About DAPDB
A reference catalog for portable audio — built in public.
DAPDB is a community-edited database of digital audio players. Every spec is sourced, time-stamped, and challengeable. Nothing is paid placement.
What we cover
Hardware specs (DAC chipset, output power, SNR, THD+N, battery, weight), connectivity (Bluetooth codecs, USB modes, line out), and system info (OS, storage, expandability). Reviews are user-submitted and moderated.
How specs are sourced
- A scheduled scraper pulls product pages from each manufacturer and normalizes the values into our schema.
- New scrapes write a diff against the previous value, creating an immutable spec history.
- Anyone can submit a correction with an evidence URL. AI pre-checks the URL against the proposed change before a moderator reviews.
- Confidence is surfaced on every record: auto verified community-corrected.
What we don't do
- No scoring boxes, no review aggregation hype.
- No affiliate links.
- No headphone or IEM database (out of scope for v1).
- No anonymous discussion forums.
